Torridon Kids' Fun Run
Torridon Kids' Fun Run
Who can participate?
All Torridon students and their preschool-aged siblings can enter the Fun Run. We hope the whole family will come out to enjoy a picnic in the park and cheer on the racers.
How can I register my child to take part?
Submit our online form or request a paper form from the school office. Submit one form per child. Please register by 20 May to ensure your child receives a t-shirt.
How much does entry cost?
It's free! We encourage children to seek sponsorship donations, and we hope you'll consider contributing to the PTA if you can. Donations will help offset our costs for the Fun Run (about £4 per participant) and other community events. We're raising funds for the £20k Creative Corner Appeal, and we also donate 10% of our net proceeds to the Lewisham Foodbank. Please give generously if you can!
What's included with entry?
If you register by 20 May, your child will receive a t-shirt. We'll have extras and will do our best to provide a t-shirt to children registered after this date, but we cannot guarantee availability. T-shirts will be distributed to classrooms on Friday, 9 June, or they can be collected from the registration table at the event. Race numbers will be handed out at the park, so please arrive in plenty of time before the start of your child's race. All finishers will receive a medal, and we'll award trophies to the top boy and girl in each age bracket.
I missed the registration deadline. Can my child still participate?
Yes! While we may not be able to provide them a t-shirt, they're more than welcome to join the race. Please submit our form to help with registration on the day.
What will happen on the day?
On arrival please visit our registration table. We'll mark your child on our register and assign them their race number (and t-shirt if they did not receive one at school). We'll have a short warm-up and then start the races! Four age groups will race together. The course will be 2 laps of the Forster Park running track, totalling about 1 mile. Participants will receive their medal as they cross the finish line. After all races are complete, we'll present trophies to the top boy and girl in each age bracket.
We'll try our best to follow the event schedule below, but please note that times are approximate. All participants should arrive for registration at least an hour before their scheduled start time, stay near the starting line, and listen for announcements to ensure they don't miss their race.

1:45 - Warm up
2:00 - Nursery/Reception (including preschool-aged siblings of Torridon students)

What if my child doesn't want to run?
All children are welcome to participate, whether they run, walk, skip, or shimmy across the finish line. Where children find 2 laps too challenging, they're welcome to stop after their first lap; they'll still get a medal. Grown-ups can accompany their children on the course for a bit of extra encouragement (but sorry, medals and t-shirts are only for children!). If they still don't want to take part in the race, we hope they'll come to cheer on their friends and enjoy a day in the park with other Torridon families.
What should I bring to the event?
Children should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for running. Be sure to bring plenty of water, plus rain and sun protection - the forecast for Sunday is calling for both! You may also wish to bring a picnic blanket or camp chairs.
Can I drop my child off at the event?
No, all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the event. Neither Friends of Torridon PTA nor school staff will be responsible for children or personal property at the event. While we will do our best to ensure the safety of all participants, parents/carers must accept full liability for any risk associated with their child's participation.
How can I help with the event?
We need lots of volunteers on the day to help with registration, marshalling, and timing the top finishers. We'll also need help ahead of the event to prepare medals and sort t-shirts. Please sign up to volunteer here.
